The Information Technology Division record group documents the development of networked computing at the University of Michigan as it evolved from 1979 to 1995, mainly during the tenure of Douglas Van Houweling. The Central Files series includes historical data, internal and external committee material, correspondence, and topical files. There is also documentation for ITD divisions and the various local, regional and national computing networks in which ITD participated. Other series concern ITD interactions with administrative and academic units on campus and interactions with computer, telecommunications, and software companies. The records also include files from the office of Gregory Marks, Deputy Vice Provost for Information Technology, 1982-1995.
